The benefits of yoga for children are to help build their physical strength, self-esteem, flexibility, muscle tone and alignment. Yoga helps regulate a child’s emotions so they can realise their full potential. Specialised breathing exercises and deep relaxation methods improve concentration, respiratory function and reduce hyperactivity, fear, stress and tension. It can help improve the quality of sleep.

Why I do this work
It’s my life’s joy to be of service to children with additional needs and their families. As a young child I grew up very close to a family with a child the same age as me and he had Autism. In my twenties alongside other creative pursuits I worked as a care support worker for children with Autism, then as a qualified yoga practitioner I was instinctively lead to train as a yoga practitioner for children with special needs. There have been obvious nudges along the way to let me know that this is the path I can call my work.
